Stop painting? Why?
Painting requires preparing floors with processes such as bead blasting or acid etching. While it is a necessary step if the paint is going to be able to bite into the surface of the concrete, it damages the concrete. Operations must shut down to accommodate the long hours of paint application and dry time. And then, when painted lines are subjected to heavy traffic such as forklifts, the rate at which the markings deteriorate is disappointingly rapid.
Our e-commerce website is called Stop-Painting.com to encourage people to question if painting is the best way to mark floors. OSHA requires pedestrian aisle ways to be clearly marked, and any company that wants to be efficient is also going to mark floors for organizational and safety purposes. The question is, which method of floor marking makes good business sense over time? To answer this question, companies have to spend considerable time digging out costs that are hidden in the various categories of their budgets or between the line item details of a contractor's quote. The truth is, when you ask most companies how much they spend keeping their floor markings maintained, they rarely can give a straight answer.
With Superior Mark™, if a section becomes worn or damaged due to heavy traffic, a fresh piece of tape can be spliced and inserted in minutes without major disruptions to facility operations. Superior Mark™ is also easy to remove, making changes in layout simple. The flexibility of using Superior Mark™ tape is appealing to our customers, who often have last minute notice on inspections, audits, and important visitors. The appearance of the floor has a profound effect on the appearance of the entire facility. When the floor appears in good order, this reflects a sense of organization and efficiency with a subconscious impact company-wide on morale. Most importantly, it creates a safer workplace. For these reasons, our customers greatly value our patented floor marking system. Using Superior Mark™ means having a great looking and well organized floor, every day.

Our Story
As a small business, we know it takes meticulous attention to details and continuous improvement to stay productive.
Continuous improvement and always searching for solutions has been a theme in for our company, InSite Solutions (dba Stop-Painting), since 2001. After several years working for a rubber manufacturing company selling their products to contractors in the road marking industry, I saw a need and demand for a different product – one that no one was making. I started my own company, taking my road marking knowledge and applying it to indoor applications.
The process of designing and developing our flagship Superior Mark™ Floor Tape took several years. We had many “back-to-the-drawing-board” moments and an untold number of failed ideas and tests. But we never gave up and took what we learned to keep on trying and improving our products. Eventually, we hit upon the winning design for our tape that combines a thicker and more durable tape with a recessed adhesive area and beveled edges to help resist the heavy scraping that comes from industrial equipment – namely forklifts.
Located in Wake Forest, North Carolina, off to the races we went and we have been working ever since to continuously improve our product line. I credit all the years in the road marking business while competing against the innovative giant 3m and a Jack Welch book, “Straight from the Gut” for encouraging boundary-less thinking. It’s America and you can do anything if you put your mind to it.
Even a patent infringement lawsuit brought by a competitor in 2005 didn’t slow us down. We knew we were right and stood our ground, in spite of the cost and effort involved. After nine-plus years, a Federal Appeals Court definitively ruled that our leading floor marking tapes, Superior Mark™ and Last Mark, were proprietary products that didn’t infringe on the competitor’s patents.
Today, InSite Solutions (Stop-Painting) is the industry leader in offering resources and tools for visually instructive workplaces seeking to increase productivity and safety. With our superlative floor marking products and other adhesive solutions, we can make your business better.
I am fortunate to have a caring, brilliant and patient wife to credit in building this business with me. She and I have truly have come a long way -- from working out of our garage while holding two jobs with a newborn on the way! As any small business owner knows, there is no clock when it comes to success.
I am blessed and have many people that have worked with me in the past and present that continue to help us grow our business to make sure we have an edge in the market. We truly love what we do and are proud of our accomplishments. We look forward to facing the future and continuing to be a leader in the facility marking and safety business. InSite Solutions holds three patents and has other patents pending.
